We would all love to have a big and spacious foyer like this-so pretty and organized.

Unfortunately, not all of us have this luxury, myself included.

So what is a mom of 4 to do?

Work with what she has.

I'm going to share with you some simple and affordable tips that I use in my own home, but before I get to the tips, the most important thing when staying organized is:

YOU MUST HAVE A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING!

Hooks, Hooks and More Hooks

Have a designated hook for each child and make sure to place it within their reach.  That way they can hang up their own backpack, jacket and anything else that their little hearts desire.

Keys: To Hang Them or Toss Them That Is The Question

Whether you hang them on a hook or toss them in a pretty bowl when you dash in through your door, just remember to have a place for them because if you are anything like me, you'll misplace them or even worse, forget to take them out of the key lock and shut your door (hopefully you've been there too and I'm not the only who has lost it :-))

Hide It Away In Baskets

Buy a big one to house all of the kids shoes and yours.  Buy it big, tall and sturdy, oh and don't forget pretty!

Hang a basket for other junk, like scarves, hats, gloves, even for library books that need to be returned.  Trust me, if you have kids like mine, you'lll need a basket for their junk.

This tip will save you from the headache of having to listen to your kid's cries during carpool in the morning bc you forgot their fave blanket, toy or what have you.  So save the Tylenol for another day and try this tip.

A Rainy Day Solution

Don't have a runner in your foyer?  How about placing a pretty tray on the floor for your rainy day gear?  Just because the day was damp and fugly doesn't mean that your floor needs to be the same.

Just so you know, my foyer is not spot clean and all tidy and neat.  Not with 4 kids!

Absolutely not, but we try to keep it as organized as possible. It also helps that there is a place for everything even if I have to shout to remind my little ones to actually use the hooks and baskets.

Hey what can I say, it's a work in progress!

Your turn!

Now that I've given you some tips on how to prep your foyer for back to school madness, share with me which tip you will implement in your home.  Don't be shy...post a comment below.
