How To Style a Coffee Table: 6 Ideas To Help Inspire You
People love coffee tables. I mean they're great to hold drinks, food, to put your feet up and many other things.I for one don't use a coffee table in our place because we have small kids and in my experience, small kids and coffee tables don't mix (I still have flash backs of when my oldest - who is now 22, but at the time, was about 2 years old - bumped her forehead on the coffee table and spent the night at the ER - she had to get stiches and all).Yeah, that time.So me and coffee tables, just don't have a good relationship, but there are people who love them and for you guys, I wanted to hook you up with some tips on how to style a coffee table because it seems pretty simple, but to be honest, it isn't to some folks. If you fall into this group, then you're in luck.Step aside while I share my tips with you on how to style a coffee table (btw, I have 6 tips for you):
How To Style a Coffee Table: Add Some Green
I'm talking about plants or flowers. Not only are they good for sweeting up the vibes in your room, they look pretty. You can go with a fresh bouquet of flowers or if plants aren't your thing or if you were like me, back in the day, when I killed plants for a living (not intentionally of course)-read more about that here, you can go with some faux flowers or plants from Ikea or even your round of way 99 cents store. Yeah, the 99 cents store has stepped up their game big time or at least here in NYC it has.
How To Style a Coffee Table: Use a Tray
I love trays because they make clearing off your coffee table easy (all you have to do is lift and carry away), but the main reason I love trays on a coffee table is they add dimension and allow you to group items without things looking too cluttered. Remember your tias coffee table full of recuerdos and figuras? (yeah, that's what you want to avoid and trays allow you to do that). You can lay some books and stack a small statue on top or maybe a small picture frame. You can also find them in different materials or colors, which I love because it allows you to mix things up in your home. Let's say, your coffee table is wood and most of your other furniture in your room is also wood, then instead of adding more wood to the already overload of wood in your space, get a tray in a marble material or gold or rose gold or even a bright color. By switching up materials, it allows different pieces in your room to pop instead it looking like a room full of wood furniture.
How To Style a Coffee Table: Add a Small Statue
Small statues allow you to show off your personality because there are so many kinds out there to choose from. A small buddha, and owl or basically anything that you're into. What you want to do with accessories is use them to allow your style to shine throughout your apartment. They allow you to personalize your space.
How To Style a Coffee Table: Add Some Candles
Candles are great for sparking a certain type of mood in your place, romantic or relaxing or they can make your space smell good, but they're also perfect for styling up your coffee table. You can switch things up too with tall or short candles or mix them together.
How To Style a Coffee Table: Books
They're not just for your bookcase. Find a new home for some of your favorite books by placing them on your coffee table. They'll be close by and easy to reach for when you get in the mood to catch up on some reading.
How To Style a Coffee Table: Try To Keep It Odd
In case you're scared of adding too much to your coffee table and having it look cluttered, I say stick with the rule of 3, when it comes to accessorizing. It usually works like magic. I believe there always comes a time to break decorating rules, so depending on your space, this may not apply, but for the most part, when it comes to styling, three's look really nice grouped together. Let's use this picture for example: a stack of books and two plants. You see what I mean by the rule of 3?
